Running a shared report
Please be mindful of the individuals who share scripted reports with you, as the report owner could potentially access the data you receive from the report, including information that may not be visible in the report itself.
What is a Shared Report?
A shared scripted report is created by an individual user and then shared with others.
Shared reports can be accessed by running them directly from the application's shared menu panel or by viewing them through gadgets on your dashboards.
To execute a shared report, all you need to do is click on the specific report that has been shared with you to view the outcomes of its execution.
Data Privacy Considerations for Shared Reports
While shared reports are a powerful tool, it's important to be aware of potential data privacy implications. When you open a shared report, which is created by someone else on your Jira instance, you're granting the report author access to your Jira issue data, even if they don't normally have permission to view it. It is not the constant access to the data; rather, it signifies that you are sharing a technical capability for the report author to view the Jira issues and worklogs data available at the time of report execution.
Why does this happen? The report builder utilizes the provided data to create a report according to the author's script. In other words, the data obtained from Jira with your permissions is processed using the code of the report authors. Consequently, it is the report author who has the ability to view and store this data while it is being processed. While this enables complex and informative reports, it's essential to trust the report author.
How to Protect Your Data
Every time you run a modified scripted (custom) report you will be notified by Report Builder, so that you could assess who and when edited the report.
To safeguard your data privacy:
Trust the Report Author: Only open shared reports from individuals you know and trust.
Review Report Details:
Pay attention to the report's last modified date, author, and owner.
If needed, add the report to your personal gallery, edit it and review the code by yourself
The Importance of Data Security
