You need to communicate possible system outages due to updates, which will only occur in the next week. Or you know the new privacy policy needs to be published in two weeks, but you're on vacation then? There are a thousand reasons where you want to create a Jira announcement in advance, but publish it later. With Data Protection and Security Toolkit for Jira, you can conveniently and reliably schedule the release.

How to schedule a Jira announcement

We will start our how-to-guide with directly in the Announcer module. For information on configuring the app, please refer to our Admin Guide.

You can literally schedule any announcement of the previous use cases. To see how to create and style a Jira announcement, please refer to the previous guides. We will jump directly to the Scope-Section.

Step 1: Change the scope of your announcement

Here, you can define the scope of your Jira announcement and decide in which projects the announcement should be displayed to which user groups.

  1. Skip Select projects since you want to display it everywhere in Jira

  2. Can view > Logged-in users or Anonymous-users

  3. User group > jira-administrators or jira-software-user

  4. Display framing time > Only during specific period

    1. At this point, you can easily pick a start date and time for your announcement as well as a concrete ending date

By clicking on Next, you will be navigated to the Review.

Step 2: Review your announcement

In the last step of your Jira announcement configuration, you can review your work and have also the preview next to the configuration. At this point, it is once again confirmed from when to when the announcement will be shown.

Click on Save and you’re done! Congrats on scheduling your Jira announcement.
