Create, edit and delete worklog. How to check Jira permissions?

Timesheet Builder application refers to Jira permissions and checks project permissions. If a user is not allowed to book time on project level, Timesheet Builder will not overwrite Jira’s permissions and will not allow to book time to a resticted project through the app.

Following permissions are taken into account:

  • Work on issues - this is a general permission level in Time Tracking permissions section. Without this access right user will not be able to book, edit or delete any worklog.

  • Edit own worklogs

  • Edit all worklogs

  • Delete own worklogs

  • Delete all worklogs

Permissions available in Timesheet Builder are on the top of standard Jira permissions. They will add additional permissions checks and restictions on team level.

How to check project permissions?

How to ensure that the user has the required access rights?

To check if the user has required permissions, you can use Permission helper. It is available in Project settings - Permissions.

  1. Please open Permission helper clicking on the button in the top right corner

  2. Select user, issue where permissions should be checked, as well as permission level.
*Make sure that when checking permissions to edit or delete own or all worklogs, you check the access rights twice: for "Work On Issues" + a second access level according to your needs.
